RECIPE GYOZA

Japanese Potstickers, can be deepfried, panfried or steamed.... try them all ;-) My favorite: Panfried by far!

Tapas dishes from Japan , suitable for for children or prepare with children.

Ingredients

  • About 24 Gyoza wrappers or Wonton, just get round shaped wrappers
  • Filling
  • 1/2 pnd pork mince, fried until brown
  • 1/2 cup bok choy, chopped finely
  • 1 spring onion, minced
  • 4 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 water chestnuts, chopped
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp oil for frying
  • Spicy dip
  • 1 tsp chili oil
  • 1 tbsp red rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soysauce
  • if too strong add some water
  • 1/4 cup of water

Preparation

Mix all ingredients for the filling.

To make Gyozas use about 1 tbsp of filling per wrapper, use some water on the edges and make half a circle, use a fork or something to press the edges together.

To prepare the Gyozas:
Heat the oil in a non stick pan. Press the gyozas in the hot oil so they're pretty flat on the bottom. Lower heat a little to get the bottom brown, then add water to steam the gyozas until done with a lid on the pan.

Serve with the dip.
